It gives me great pleasure to stand before you on this auspicious occasion of the 5th Annual National Conference of the School of Business Studies holding here at the Federal Polytechnic Bauchi, Nigeria. An occasion where Academics and Researchers present their work to a wide and interesting audience, learn from each other and broaden their network.

The Theme of this Conference (Digital Technology and sustainable Development), is timely because it cuts across all spheres of life. I believe that with your wealth of knowledge, caliber and the quality of work you shall present here, the people of Bauchi state an indeed Nigeria will benefit immensely. Hence, more opportunities for development shall be availed.

It is a known fact that digital development has become a Global- affair. It is evident that it has served, and still serving as a means of fostering rapid development of the foremost developed countries such as the US, China, Japan and others. Therefore, for Nigeria to attain such same status, there is need for us to deploy Digital technology in the various sectors of our Economy. Education, Healthcare, Financial sector and so on. It is only then, that we shall witness sustainable development in our beloved country.

Undoubtedly, it is indeed a wonderful opportunity for the people of Bauchi state to have such a National Academic Programme holding in the state. I want to assure you that you will enjoy your stay here, as the state is known for its Hospitality and Tourism. Do spare time to visit the famous Yankari National Park, Summu Wild Life Park and other tourist sites.

Finally, I pray that you have a fruitful deliberation and a safe trip back to your various destination.

Thank you is such an invaluable prayer that cannot be seen or touched. It must be felt by the heart. I feel honored and privileged to have the opportunity to propose a vote of thanks on this special occasion. Let me start by thanking the Chairman of the occasion, Ambassador Shuaibu Ahmed Adamu, the Executive Secretary of Nigerian Financial Reporting Council. I would also like to also thank our lead paper presenter, the amiable Professor, Kabir Tahir Hamid for doing justice to the theme and setting the stage for further deliberations.

To our Special-guest of Honor, the Accountant General of Bauchi State , Dr. Saidu Abubakar, I say thank you for gracing us with your presence. We owe a debt of gratitude to our Royal Father of the Day, The Madakin Bauchi, Dr. Baba Muhammad Gidado for his warm fatherly roles. Ranka ya dade Mun-gode !!

On behalf of the LOC, I thank the Rector, Arc. Sunusi Waziri Gumau and the Registrar, Hajiya Rakiya U Maleka and their Management team for providing the necessary enabling environment and approvals for this Conference to hold.I would like to thank all the delegates who blessed us through their presentations and deliberations. Your rich intellectual contributions are indeed an invaluable input for Nation building. Words are not enough to thank our Dean, School of Business studies, Mal. Usman Dutse for appointing me to Chair the LOC of this Conference. Working with you has been a memorable experience.

An event of this dimension cannot happen overnight. The wheels started rolling months in advance. We have been very fortunate to be backed by a team of very motivated and dedicated members and volunteers. Thank you LOC Members. Finally, If time is money, then today you have spent millions for us. Thanks to all of you for making this event successful.Have a wonderful stay in Bauchi. Enjoy the conference and the campus of Federal polytechnic Bauchi and if time permits visit our revered tourist’s attraction sites of Yankari Game reserve and Summu wildlife park among others.
